Taylor

Words to live by: “Sometimes you’re flush and sometimes you’re bust, and when you’re up, it’s never as good as it seems, and when you’re down, you never think you’ll be up again, but life goes on.” – From the movie Blow (2001)

Taylor

Introduce Yourself

Hello! I’m Taylor and I am origninally from Boston, but I am currently living in North Carolina with my fiancé who is in the army. If there’s one thing you need to know about me, it’s that I love high fashion.

I am really interested in…

I am really interested in high fashion because to me, it is a form of art. Be it Haute Couture or Ready-To-Wear, the process of designing and creating clothes is so fascinating to me. I love knowing who’s who in the fashion world – which designer is leading which fashion house. I pride myself in the fact that when I flip through magazines I can name every single model and the clothing of a brand simply based on their aesthetic. Some people love cars, some people love history, and me, I LOVE fashion!

I started my blog because…

In all honestly, just because I wanted to! I have a unique blogging story because I started on Tumblr. I remember telling my roommate in college that I wanted to start a fashion blog, not for a particular reason. I got on Tumblr because it was free, and I learned SO much about the fashion industry through this platform. As My Tumblr followers grew to around 35,000 I knew it was time to take my blog to the next level, so I purchased a WordPress domain and moved my website to what it is now.

What is your favorite thing about being part of the Style Collective sisterhood?

I love having ladies to back me up, share tips, and most importantly RANT! Fashion blogging is a hard feat and it’s so nice to have a support system who knows what you’re going through. My friends and family may see it as simply me getting free clothes and makeup, but they don’t understand the hour long flat lay sessions, photo editing and researching targeted hashtags that go into one simple blog post. I feel so lucky to have met some awesome SC girls while at NYFW!

#MotivationMonday:

Research and planning is so important for any endeavor! Make sure your ducks are in a row before you hatch them!

Kelly

Words to live by: “You just need to have a love for what you’re doing. It’s not about thinking that it’s the cool thing; it’s about really believing in it.” – Anna Wintour

Introduce Yourself

I’m Kelly, a fashion, beauty and lifestyle blogger at KaptivatingThoughts.com. Writing has always been a big part of my life and blogging is such a fun creative outlet for me!

No matter how busy I am each day, I make sure that I…

Take time to reflect and grow. I think it’s so important to give ourselves credit for a job well done or an awesome accomplishment, but also to think about how we can improve and stay humble along the way!

What is your favorite thing about being part of the Style Collective sisterhood?

My favorite thing about being part of the SC sisterhood is that it’s constantly growing. It’s great being able to connect with new bloggers every day and learn from each other. Even when you think you’ve learned it all… there’s more helpful tips to know!

#MotivationMonday:

Hard work and confidence! Be confident in yourself, your blog/business and what you’re bringing to your readers. As long as you have confidence and work hard, you’ll achieve anything.

Sophia

Blanc Mode, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest
Words to live by: “A river cuts through a rock not because of its power, but its persistence.”

Sophia

Introduce Yourself

Blanc Mode is a petite personal style blog. Sophia’s personal style can be described as tomboy chic, and she also love styling luxe neutrals + basics. Through this creative outlet, Sophia share tidbits of her own outfits which just feel right to her, as she is on a journey to hone her personal style. Sophia’s style journey also includes highlighting trends as seen on other influential fashion bloggers, and imparting some petite fashion to her readers advice along the way.

I am really interested in…

One thing I’m really interested in is the study of eating disorders and body dissatisfaction as they are related to social media usage. As someone who clearly loves fashion, I never really put two and two together until recently to realize that this topic in psychology that I’ve been researching is very related to blogging/the fashion world in general! It can be so easy to engage in social comparison with all of the perfectly curated images we see on social media (especially Instagram). Social media is a relatively untouched topic in the world of psychology research, so I’m excited to keep delving into a topic that’s such a big part of our daily lives as bloggers.

What’s your favorite post on your site?

My favorite post on Blanc Mode would have to be this one: http://www.blancmode.com/2016/09/fall-transition-fossil-q.html

It’s my favorite for several reasons:

A) I love my outfit!

B) It’s not just any old outfit… it’s my first time featuring a skirt on the blog, which was a major step out of my comfort zone (and something I’ve been trying to do more often in several aspects of my life)

C) Fossil reached out to me for a collaboration, and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I received their email! So that made putting this post together that much more fun. 🙂

What is your favorite thing about being part of the Style Collective sisterhood?

Although I haven’t been able to meet any SC sisters in person yet, I already love how friendly everyone is! I have never once sensed any competitive or exclusive vibes; in fact, it’s quite the opposite. I feel like there’s an instant connect on Instagram the moment you let a sister know that you’re a part of SC as well!

#MotivationMonday:

Honestly, I would say have fun and keep creating content that feels true to you! To me it feels most tiring when I try to post something that isn’t 100% me- whether it is an outfit that I don’t totally love, or a collaboration for a brand that I’m not totally behind. Now I feel like I post a little less frequently than I used to, but each and every post is one that makes me proud!
